Walter Gretzky Street Hockey Tournament

We know it’s still the middle of winter, but it’s not too soon to start thinking about warm weather!  Last year I found out about this ball hockey tournament too late to enter, but I’m way ahead of the game this year and looking for some teammates (and fans!) who need their hockey fix in the summer like I do.

Ball Hockey International (BHI) in Brantford, Ontario has announced the dates and venue for the 4th Annual Walter Gretzky Street Hockey Tournament.  The tournament will be taking place at the Steve Brown Sports Complex / Lions Park on June 4, 5 and 6.  There are 5 adult divisions and NHLTweetup.com is entering a team in the Adult Recreational division. (If we get enough players, we may enter two teams!)

If you’re a Kevin Smith fan, he plays in this tournament every year.  This year he’s apparently trying to break a Guinness World Record for the most street hockey teams in a tournament.  The current record is 192.

We need 10 more players to make a team.

What: Street Hockey Tournament
Where: Steve Brown Sports Complex / Lions Park in Brantford, Ontario
When: June 4 – 6, 2010
Cost: Roughly $30 per player.

NHLTweetup events are typically free, and this one is too if you want to come support the team, or just hang out and have some fun.  The $30 is only for those who want to participate in the tournament. More details to come as they’re available!
