For an idea that was born on a whim, the NHLtweetup street hockey game was a success, and apparently the start of a new trend. We almost canceled due to the rain, but it’s a good thing we didn’t because everyone had an absolute BLAST. The game lasted about 2 hours and it POURED almost the entire time. As you can see by the photo below, our NHLtweetup teams weren’t deterred by it at all.

This was a unique opportunity to have fans from various teams, and even opposite sides of the continent, play hockey together and chat up the upcoming season. It did wonders for our #nhlwithdrawl and gave everyone an opportunity to get to know one another better outside of the confines of Twitter’s 140.
A huge thanks to those that braved the storm and stuck it out with us.
