I just wanted to take a moment to thank everyone who helped make the first ever NHLTweetUp – Pittsburgh a huge sucess.
Obviously, thank yous to everyone who came out to Friday’s last night. It was great to finally meet a lot of Twitter friends and to have a conversation lasting more than 140 characters at a time. And almost every person there last night made it a point to come by and thank us for putting it together and asked when are we doing it again.
Jen and I appreciate that.
Thank you to those of you who wanted to come but wound up getting tickets and going to the game instead. We were jealous of you but disappointed you couldn’t come at the same time.
Thank you to everyone who intended on coming but couldn’t make it. Just the fact that you wanted to come encourages us to do this again.
Obvious thanks go out to @dani3boyz and @goaliegirl for setting the idea into motion. Thank you to the NHL and @umassdilo and @schuylerb specifically. Also thanks to @nirvamilord for getting the local NBC affiliate to come out and put us on the 11 o’clock news.
Thank you to the Pittsburgh Penguins for being the first NHL team to jump onboard as an official sponsor of the NHL Tweetup. And thank you for the awesome prizes.
Thank you to @Jagrmeister and @bmetzer66 for their generous prize offerings. I think the people that won are still smiling. (Especially Beth who won the tickets to Game 2!)
And a special thank you to @RockinPRGirl, Jen, for all her help. And without her, we would not have had the media coverage that we did (which still blows my mind).
Ryan
(now I know why award acceptance speeches last so long)
p.s. We discussed an informal tweetup at the Big Screen in front of Mellon for a game. Interested?
Here is the story from WPXI last night. Still looking for the video of it.
And here is a link for some of the photos from last night.
