Boston NHLTweetup = SUCCESS

Boston NHLTweetup = SUCCESS

Sorry I’m late to the party on the tweetup recap!

It was an NHLTweetup in miniature (we had 9 attendees, including one non-twitterer) but it ended up being perfect – the Sports Depot had a perfectly-sized table just WAITING to be claimed by Tweeps. On the way to 7 o’clock, we got the Caps/Rangers and Flyers/Pens games put on TVs for us, and got things going!

Not a lot of actual tweeting was done since people were mostly caught up in some serious conversations (Lots of talk was had about spending those 20% discounts on Hartford Whalers gear at the NHL store!) and there was a bit of interference when some…rowdy…Rangers fans/Boston University students got a bit too “excited” when their team pulled ahead, but we made friends with some other Caps fans (two of us were Rocking the Red; everyone else with the exception of Mary the non-twitterer (Habs fan…what?) was rocking their Bruins gear.) and the tweetup wrapped up around 9:45! Sad that the Caps lost, but we had a good time anyways.

We did some giveaways; here is @therinkrat winning an All-Star game puck autographed by Zdeno Chara! More photos can be found HERE on @bitchinmona’s Flickr!

Thanks to @lisa617, @hieronymus, @bitchinmona, @therinkrat, @hbadventure, @globalpuck, @bontz, and random Habs Fan Mary (working on getting her a twitter name…) for coming!

Other thank yous are clearly in order as well: @dani3boyz and @goaliegirl for this genius brainchild idea called an NHLTweetup; thank you to @umassdilo and @schuylerb and the NHL in general for letting it come to fruition (and for the goodie bags!). Thank you to the Sports Depot for accomodating crazy sports fans as well as they do.

Stay tuned to my Twitter account (@sarah_connors) for details about future mini-tweetups to watch playoff games – like we said, we might be watching game 3 on Monday at Common Ground in Allston!

Okay, I’m done here, time to go watch some B’s/Habs!
